What is an ERMHS / ERICS Assessment?

An ERMHS/ERICS assessment is a comprehensive evaluation designed to determine whether a student qualifies for specialized mental health support in the school setting. Conducted by a licensed pediatric neuropsychologist or other qualified mental health professional, the assessment identifies emotional, behavioral, or social challenges that may impact learning and academic success.

Who May Benefit?

ERMHS / ERICS Assessment are particularly helpful for children who experience:

  • Anxiety, Depression, or mood regulation difficulties
  • ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, or other emotional challenges impacting executive function tasks, such as planning, organizing, and task completion
  • Behavioral challenges or social-emotional difficulties affecting school performance
  • Trauma-related stress or other emotional challenges

What an ERMHS / ERICS Assessment Typically Includes:

  • Interviews with parents, teachers, and the student to understand emotional and behavioral history
  • Observation of the student in the school and/or clinic setting
  • Standardized testing and rating scales to assess social-emotional functioning, coping skills, and behavioral regulation
  • Integration of academic, behavioral, and emotional data to inform school-based supports
  • Recommendations for educationally-related mental health services, such as individual/group counseling, social work, parent support, or crisis intervention
